SLO County weekend excursion (part 2)
Moonstone Beach is a beautiful stretch along the coast with tons of pebbles and yes, moonstone. The moonstone is the raw kind, not yet polished so it's slightly cloudy and a bit of effort is required in order to find them.
Searching is the best part though. There are people with plastic bags, cups, any receptacle suitable for collecting stones of all colors, textures, gradients and if fortunate enough, some moonstone.
The act itself of looking, searching and walking along the beach while listening to the crashing waves is beyond relaxing; it's meditative. The repetitive sounds of the waves, along with the focus required to continue to look for moonstone creates a bubble of relaxation.
Rocks collected from Moonstone Beach.
After spending time collecting moonstone and rocks, we headed for the Moonstone Beach Bar & Grill. Our meals came with two free glasses of champagne! My friend and I took full advantage. There's a selection of beer from the local brewery, Firestone as well as plenty of cocktails. Beware, the portions are generous so the fish tacos I ordered were shareable.
Life is fulfilling when enjoying champagne, comfort food after a morning walking on the beach!
